Psalm 43: Hope in God When the Soul Is Cast Down
Show: Reading the Bible Daily with Dave
Host: Dave Jenkins
Date: March 23, 2026
Show Summary
Psalm 43 continues the prayer begun in Psalm 42, forming a unified lament that moves from deep discouragement to renewed hope in God. In this episode of Reading the Bible Daily with Dave, Dave Jenkins explains how the psalmist brings sorrow, injustice, and spiritual discouragement honestly before the Lord while continuing to anchor his confidence in God.
This psalm teaches believers to cry out for vindication, ask for God’s light and truth, and press on toward restored worship and joy in the Lord. Even before circumstances change, the psalmist speaks truth to his own soul: “Hope in God.”
Ultimately, Psalm 43 points to Jesus Christ, the true Light and Truth, who brings His people into the presence of God with joy, confidence, and hope.
