Wealth Without Enjoyment Is Empty
Ecclesiastes 6 describes a man to whom God gives wealth, possessions, and honor. He lacks nothing that he desires, yet God does not give him the ability to enjoy what he possesses. His abundance cannot provide satisfaction.Possessions alone are not enough. Success alone is not enough. Satisfaction is not ultimately found in what we possess but in the Lord, who gives every good gift and enables His people to receive those gifts with gratitude.A Long Life Without Joy Is Still Meaningless
The Preacher describes someone with many children, a long life, and great opportunities but no lasting fulfillment. The length of a person’s life does not determine the depth of its meaning.A person may live many years and experience considerable success while remaining spiritually empty. Life has meaning only when it is received from God and lived before Him.Human Desire Is Never Fully Satisfied
Ecclesiastes 6:7 explains that all of man’s labor is for his mouth, yet his appetite is never satisfied. Fallen human desire continually reaches for more money, success, recognition, pleasure, and achievement.Having more does not end this restless pursuit. Without contentment in God, every fulfilled desire is eventually replaced by another desire. We Cannot Control or Fully Understand Life
Ecclesiastes 6:10–12 reminds us that human beings are limited. We cannot control every outcome, fully understand everything that happens, or predict what will come after us.Rather than arguing with the One who is stronger than we are, we must acknowledge our limitations and trust the sovereign wisdom of God.Lasting Satisfaction Is Found in Christ
Ecclesiastes 6 exposes the inability of wealth, success, longevity, and achievement to satisfy the human heart. This is why we need Christ.Jesus gives what riches cannot provide. He gives lasting joy, true satisfaction, eternal hope, and a purpose that reaches beyond possessions. Wealth leaves us empty, but Christ fills His people with enduring hope and contentment.Key Scriptures
