Persevering in the Christian Life by Looking to Christ
The Christian life is not only about starting well. It is about continuing faithfully through trials, discouragement, weariness, and the changing seasons of life.Scripture describes the Christian life as a race requiring endurance. Hebrews 12:1–2 calls believers to run with endurance while looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. Christians persevere not through their own strength, but by fixing their eyes on Christ and continuing faithfully over time.Listen or Watch
Galatians 6:9 tells Christians not to grow weary in doing good. This command acknowledges that believers will experience weariness, difficulty, and discouragement. Perseverance does not mean living perfectly or never feeling tired. It means continuing faithfully because God is at work in His people. In this episode of Contending for the Word Q&A, Dave Jenkins explains why perseverance is an essential part of following Christ, how focusing on Jesus strengthens Christian endurance, and why believers can trust God to sustain them throughout the Christian life.In This Episode
