The Great Grace of Our Lord Jesus

“But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen” (Galatians 6:14-18). Boasting...

Doing Good to Those of the Household of Faith

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:9-10). While Paul reminds the people of Galatia of the truth that God won’t be deceived, he urged this community of believers to work hard for God. The Testimony of Affliction

“You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first,  and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus (Galatians 4:13-14).” Apostle Paul shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Risen Savior, as a result of his illness. This was likely not a mission trip that Paul had his heart set on going on. Still, Paul shared the great light of the world, even from his dark place of affliction. If only we...

Living the Gospel

Recently, I began to visit a neighborhood church during the week. The most noticeable characteristic of these followers of Christ is the way they love. A month later, I am still in awe of the way they love and welcome anyone into their flock. They seem to show compassion well, to their close-knit community. To be honest, this is what keeps me going back. While I love to pursue any opportunity to read and study the Word of God, especially with other believers, their sweet compassion, and heartfelt love is what keeps me going back. I need to be...

Prizing Christ Supremely in All of Life

Recently, I joined others in my local church in a new class we are offering. For the next twelve weeks, we are intently seeking ways to honor God through how we take care of our physical bodies. Typically, these sort of things don’t go very well. In our human nature, we divert from “eat or drink for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31) when we see the number on the scale drop. Once that moment happens, all of our goals return to vanity and pride. We forget about God, making this step for His honor and the relationship...
