Series: Reading the Bible Daily with Dave
Speaker: Dave Jenkins
Scripture: 2 Kings 14:1–29
Date: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
Show Summary
Amaziah, king of Judah, began his reign with partial obedience but failed to remove the high places.
After defeating Edom, his pride led him into conflict with Israel, resulting in Judah’s defeat and humiliation.
Yet God’s sovereign mercy is revealed through Israel’s restoration under Jeroboam II, fulfilling Jonah’s prophecy.
This passage reminds us that pride undermines obedience, but God’s compassion endures, pointing us ultimately to Christ,
the perfectly obedient King.
