Why the Trinity Matters for the Christian Life

Some people think of the Trinity as an abstract doctrine, important only for theologians. But Scripture presents the Trinity as foundational to the entire Christian faith. God has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Father sends the Son. The Son accomplishes redemption through His life, death, and resurrection. The Holy Spirit applies Christ’s finished work to believers. Salvation, therefore, cannot be understood rightly apart from the Trinity.
Christian worship and prayer are also Trinitarian. Believers worship the Father through the Son by the power of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, believers have access in one Spirit to the Father (Ephesians 2:18).
The Trinity is not a minor doctrine. It reveals who God truly is and should lead Christians to humility, reverence, worship, and awe before the one God who is forever worthy of praise.
