The Church’s Mission in the World

Christ has given His church a clear mission: make disciples through the gospel, baptize believers, and teach them to obey His Word. In this conclusion to the September series, Dave Jenkins explains why local churches are central to that mission and why ordinary faithfulness matters.

The Gospel Creates the Church
The church exists because Jesus Christ has redeemed a people for Himself. Its mission flows from the gospel and remains under the authority of His Word.
Christ Calls His Church to Make Disciples
In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus commands His followers to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to observe all that He commanded. The mission continues as believers grow together in the life of a local church.
Gathered and Sent
Local churches preach the gospel, teach the Word, care for believers, and equip them to serve. Christians then bear witness to Christ in their homes, workplaces, and communities. God uses this ordinary faithfulness to advance His purposes.
As this series closes, be encouraged to remain rooted in a faithful local church. Christ is building His church, and its calling to make Him known has not changed.
