Introduction

The Seven Mountain Mandate is a modern dominion theology movement that teaches Christians are called to take control of seven key spheres of cultural influence often described as government, education, media, arts and entertainment, business, family, and religion.

Supporters argue that cultural transformation requires Christians to rise into positions of power across these “mountains” in order to advance God’s kingdom.

But does this vision align with the mission Christ gave His church?

In this series, we examine the claims of the Seven Mountain Mandate in light of Scripture, historic Christian theology, and the biblical mission of the local church. Our aim is not reaction, but clarity not to alarm, but faithfulness to the Word of God.

What Is the Seven Mountain Mandate?

The Seven Mountain Mandate teaches that:

  • God has revealed seven primary spheres of societal influence.

  • Christians are called to take dominion within these spheres.

  • Apostolic and prophetic leadership structures are necessary to accomplish this mission.

  • Cultural transformation is central to advancing the kingdom of God.

While Christians are certainly called to live faithfully in every area of life, we must ask whether Scripture presents the church’s mission as cultural conquest or gospel proclamation and disciple-making.

Why This Matters for the Church

This issue is not merely theoretical.

The Seven Mountain Mandate reshapes how believers understand:

  • The mission of the church.

  • The nature of spiritual authority.

  • The relationship between the kingdom of God and political power.

  • The role of apostles and prophets today.

If we misunderstand the church’s calling, we risk drifting from the Great Commission toward something Scripture does not command.

Faithfulness requires that we test every teaching no matter how influential or popular by the Word of God.

Part of the Broader 7MM Series

This page is part of our broader 7MM series examining each “mountain” and asking whether its vision of influence aligns with the mission Christ gave His church.

Our commitment is simple:
Christ builds His church through the proclamation of the gospel, the making of disciples, and the faithful ministry of the local church, not through dominion structures or extra-biblical authority claims.
