Scripture Must Remain the Final Authority
Every generation faces pressure to place culture, tradition, experience, or personal preference above God’s Word. The Reformation reminds Christians that Scripture is the ultimate authority for faith and practice.Acts 17:11 describes the Bereans examining the Scriptures daily to test what they were being taught. Second Timothy 3:16–17 teaches that Scripture is God-breathed and equips believers for every good work. These truths continue to guide the church today. The Church Must Guard the Gospel
The reformers sought to recover the clarity of the biblical gospel. That responsibility remains. When human effort, personal merit, or worldly ideas are added to the gospel, its message becomes obscured. The church must continue to proclaim that sinners are saved by God’s grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.Biblical Discernment Tests Teaching by God’s Word
Sincerity, tradition, and popularity cannot establish whether a teaching is true. Christians must measure teaching by Scripture. In an age of competing truth claims and spiritual confusion, this practice remains essential to faithful Christian living.Faithfulness to Christ Requires Courage
Many reformers faced opposition, criticism, and personal risk as they stood for biblical truth. Their example reminds believers that faithfulness to Christ sometimes requires courage, especially when the truth is unpopular.Applying Reformation Truth Today
- Remain committed to the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word.
- Guard the purity of the biblical gospel.
- Test every teaching against Scripture.
- Stand firm in biblical conviction with courageous faithfulness.
