Job 18: When Truth Without Love Becomes Cruel

Text: Job 18
Show Summary
In Job 18, Bildad speaks again—and his words grow sharper. Instead of comforting Job in his suffering, he assumes guilt and describes the fate of the wicked as if it applies directly to a righteous sufferer. This chapter warns us that truth, when misapplied, becomes cruelty. And yet, even here, we are reminded that God’s justice is perfect, His timing is sure, and His mercy is greater than man’s condemnation. Ultimately, Job 18 points us to Christ—the only righteous Judge—in whom God’s justice and mercy meet perfectly at the cross.
