Redemption Summary
In this episode of Contending for the Word, Dave Jenkins explains why the gospel is far bigger than forgiveness alone. It is blood-bought rescue, union with Christ, and a transfer into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son—reordering identity, renewing the mind, reshaping affections, transferring allegiance, forming daily discipleship, and anchoring hope in Christ’s promised consummation.

Episode Notes
Here are the key truths covered in this episode:
- Redemption is comprehensive: not merely forgiveness, but reordering and new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- This saving work is covenantal rescue: purchased, ransomed, and delivered from bondage through Christ’s blood (Ephesians 1:7).
- Salvation includes: justification, reconciliation, regeneration, union with Christ, and adoption—held together as one gospel reality.
- It renews the mind: worldview transformation under Scripture’s authority (Romans 12:2).
- It reorders affections: Christ becomes the supreme treasure, not comfort, approval, or cultural relevance.
- Christ transfers our allegiance: delivering us from darkness and bringing us into His kingdom (Colossians 1:13).
- It shapes daily discipleship: steady faithfulness through ordinary means of grace, not spectacle or panic (Acts 2:42; James 1:22).
- It points forward: consummation and promised restoration when Christ returns (Revelation 21:1–5).
