1 Chronicles 5: The Tribes East of the Jordan — Sin, Struggle, & God’s Sovereignty
Show: Reading the Bible Daily with Dave
Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
Text: 1 Chronicles 5 (ESV)
Series: Reading the Bible Daily with Dave
Show Summary
Today we turn east of the Jordan River to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. Reuben forfeits his birthright because of sin; the tribes win battles when they trust the Lord; and, tragically, idolatry leads to exile. This chapter reminds us that sin has consequences, victory comes through faith in God, and the Lord is sovereign over blessing, battle, and discipline. In Christ—the true Firstborn who never sinned—our inheritance is secure.
