Why is it significant that God promised to build David a 'house' instead of the other way around?

Because God establishes a dynasty for David by grace, not human effort. The promise shifts from David building a structure to God building a lineage that culminates in the eternal King, Jesus Christ.

How does this covenant point us to Christ, the eternal Son of David?

The covenant promises an everlasting throne that exceeds Solomon's limited reign. The New Testament identifies Jesus as the Son of David whose kingdom is eternal, fulfilling the promise.

What does David’s humble prayer teach us about responding to God’s promises?

David sits before the Lord in awe, acknowledges grace, and asks God to do as He has spoken. True faith responds with humility, gratitude, and confidence in God’s Word.

How can we live with greater confidence in God’s covenant faithfulness?

By anchoring our hope in Christ’s finished work and eternal reign, praying God’s promises back to Him, and shaping daily life—private devotion, family, church, and work—around His sure Word.
