Ezra: God’s Faithful Restoration of His People

Ezra records the return of God’s people from Babylonian exile and the Lord’s work in restoring both His temple and His people. The book opens with God stirring the heart of Cyrus to allow the exiles to return, followed by the rebuilding of the altar and the temple in Jerusalem. Opposition arises, yet the Lord strengthens His people through the prophetic ministries of Haggai and Zechariah, leading to the completion of the temple. Years later, Ezra arrives as a priest and scribe devoted to studying, obeying, and teaching the Word of God, calling the people to holiness and repentance. Ultimately, Ezra highlights God’s covenant faithfulness, His commitment to purify His people, and the necessity of hearts rebuilt by His Word.
