Living Wisely Before the Lord
What does living wisely actually look like in daily life? Proverbs gives us several clear priorities:- Fear the Lord. Wisdom begins with recognizing who God is and submitting ourselves to Him.
- Stay in God’s Word. Wisdom does not come from our feelings but from the truth God has revealed.
- Guard your heart. What fills the heart will eventually shape the life.
- Watch your words. Our speech reveals our hearts and has a profound impact on others.
- Walk in humility. Wise people receive correction and remain teachable.
- Choose wisdom daily. Wisdom is not a one-time decision but a lifelong pursuit.
Christ, the Wisdom of God
The Book of Proverbs ultimately leads us beyond ourselves to Jesus Christ. Proverbs shows us what wisdom looks like, but none of us has lived with perfect wisdom. We have chosen foolishness, spoken unwisely, and failed to obey God as we should.Jesus Christ, however, lived in perfect obedience to His Father. He spoke with perfect wisdom, walked perfectly in the fear of the Lord, and fulfilled the righteousness we could never achieve ourselves. He then died for sinners and rose again so that those who trust in Him might be forgiven, transformed, and enabled to walk in God’s ways.Christ is not merely our example of wisdom. He is our wisdom. First Corinthians 1:24 describes Christ as “the wisdom of God,” while Colossians 2:3 declares that in Him are hidden “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”Key Takeaways from Proverbs
