Where does the Bible say 'Do all for the glory of God'?

In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Paul writes, 'So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.' This verse calls believers to glorify God in every aspect of life, even the ordinary. The same principle appears in Colossians 3:17, where Paul instructs, 'Whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.'

What does 'the glory of God' mean in Scripture?

The glory of God refers to His divine majesty, holiness, and splendor—the visible manifestation of His attributes. It is the sum of His perfections displayed in creation, redemption, and judgment. Passages such as Isaiah 6:3 ('Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory') and Romans 11:36 ('For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever.') emphasize that everything exists to display and reflect God's glory.

How can Christians live for the glory of God?

Christians live for the glory of God by orienting every aspect of life—work, family, worship, and service—around His purposes and character. This includes gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18), love for others (John 13:34-35), and obedience to His Word (John 14:15). Both sacred and secular actions can glorify God when done with faith, humility, and joy in Him.
