Esther 1, Power Pride and the Fall of a Queen
Series: Esther, Providence and Protection
Date: Monday, December 22, 2025
Passage: Esther 1 (ESV)
Show Summary
In Esther chapter 1, we see how human pride and earthly power cannot stand in the way of God’s sovereign purposes. King Xerxes displays his wealth and authority, only to be undone by his own arrogance, while the fall of Queen Vashti quietly sets the stage for God’s redemptive plan. Though God’s name is never mentioned in Esther, His providence is unmistakable.

Thanks for joining me today on Reading the Bible Daily with Dave. In Esther 1, we’ve seen how pride brings downfall and how God’s quiet providence moves through every circumstance. Tomorrow, we’ll see how God begins to position His people for His purpose in Esther 2. Until then, stay anchored in Scripture, steadfast in faith, and confident in the God who reigns, even when unseen.
