What does it mean that the Word became flesh?

John 1:14 teaches that the eternal Son of God took on human nature. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, entered the world to reveal God, redeem sinners, and dwell with His people.

Why is the Incarnation essential to salvation?

The Incarnation is essential because only one who is fully God and fully man could perfectly obey God’s law, bear the penalty for sin, and reconcile sinners to God.

How does the Incarnation reveal God’s grace?

The Incarnation reveals God’s grace in that Christ humbled Himself, took the form of a servant, and obediently went to the cross to save His people (Philippians 2:6–9).

What does Emmanuel mean?

Emmanuel means ‘God with us.’ In Jesus Christ, God is not distant but present, dwelling with His people in grace, truth, and glory.
