Thoughts from The Theocratic Kingdom: Proposition 82

Posted On March 26, 2016

In Proposition 82, George Peters states:

“This Kingdom is a complete restoration in the person of the Second Adam or Man, or the dominion lost by the First Adam or Man.”

The gospel in a nutshell – restoration and redemption of what was lost under the First Adam. Man was given a mandate – be fruitful and multiply and have dominion. Due to sin, we lost that dominion and were thrust into a state of death and decay. The Second Adam was promised in Genesis 3:15 as One would would come to crush the head of the enemy and to restore and redeem all things for the redeemed.

The most notable observation Peters presents in Proposition 82 is the following:

“This dominion, here on earth, will be exerted by Jesus, the Man, through the re-establishment of the Theocratic ordering. It is the restored Theocratic Davidic throne and Kingdom, in its organized and associated capacity, under the leadership of the covenanted King that constitutes the leverage for the exertion of this dominion. The saints, made like unto Christ and associated with Him in His power, largely participate in it, all nature being brought into subjection to them. Thus the Scriptures will be amply fulfilled.”

Jesus is of course the Second Adam, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Son of Man who will sit on the re-established Theocratic Davidic throne. As Peters notes, part of that re-establishment of the Theocratic Davidic throne will include a restoration of the dominion mandate to man that was lost in its former state due to sin. Once all this takes place, salvation history will have been amply and completely fulfilled for all eternity.
