Three Things to Remember When You Read the Bible – “This is as real as it gets. There is nothing more important or meaningful or relevant than for these three truths to converge, and for us to remember them: God, his Book, and his people. You can never just read the Bible.”

Is Divorce Equivalent to Homosexuality? – “But our attitude should not be that so many have shirked their churchly responsibility in some things, so let’s then shirk our responsibilities in everything. That would be the equivalent of someone saying, “Since I have had lust in my heart, which Jesus identified as root adultery, I should go ahead and have an affair” or “Since I am angry with you, which Jesus identified as springing from a spirit of murder, I should go ahead and kill you.”

Was Jesus a Law Hater? A Law Corrector? – “Christ honors the Law. The Pharisees thought they did. However, their tragic mistake was to try to live or keep the Law apart from Christ. I wonder, if an awful lot of church-goers aren’t guilty of that. If one does, it is because one separates Christ from the Law. Whenever this happens a person disregards the Law Giver and, afraid of the Law, tries to work his/her way to heaven by being good.”

Fitting the Bible into the Margins – “Whether it’s listening or memorizing or good old-fashioned reading, there are all kinds of ways you can fit the Bible into all kinds of times during your day. Think of those gaps in your day as loose change. You could simply leave them lying around, or you could invest some of them in God’s Word and see what they add up to in six months, or a year, or ten years.”
