Five Common Mistakes Christian Parents Make – Daniel Darling continues the Marriage/Parenting/Singleness series at Servants of Grace by looking at five common mistakes christian parents make.

What Gossip Says About God – “When Scripture warns against gossip (Romans 1:29; 2 Corinthians 12:20; 1 Timothy 5:13), it is applying an entire understanding of God, Jesus, his word, his image, his plan, his salvation, and his people. To refrain from gossip is an on-the-ground practice of Christian theology. Likewise, to share in gossip is to practice a distinctly non-Christian theology.”

Encourage One Another: Giving Grace with Your Words – “Encouragement is shared with the hopes that it will lift someone’s heart toward the Lord (Col. 4:8). It points out evidences of grace in another’s life to help them see that God is using them. It points a person to God’s promises that assures them that all they face is under his control.”

MANHOOD 101: Protection – “Being protectors as men is a task that takes many forms. It is neither easy, nor expedient. Nevertheless, it is a calling given to us by Jesus. Because of this, it is both possible and joyful; the world will take notice.”

Offer Advice Very Carefully – “Giving advice goes poorly so often, it is worth more careful thought about how we give it. We all need advice. We seek it every day. That is a wise and natural part of being a creature rather than the Creator. But we also know that advice can run from helpful to horrible, and it can bless a relationship or hurt it. “
