The Burden of Sin

    • Leviticus 26:21,28 – Sin is acting hostile against God.
    • Micah 2:8 – Sin is rising up against God.
    • Acts 5:39 – Sin is fighting against God.
    • Acts 7:51 – Sin resists the Holy Spirit.
    • Romans 8:7 – Sin is hostility towards God.
  2. Sin Wrongs God

“Sin stamps the Devil’s image on man.” – Thomas Watson

  • The Oppression of Sin.
  1. A crushing pressure
  2. A cruel ruling authority of power

Romans 6:12, “Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts.”

Romans 6:14, “For sin shall not be master over you.”

2 Peter 2:19, “promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome by this he is enslaved.”

  • Our Hope from Sin.
  • The obligation of the Sinner.
  1. Repent of our sin.
  • See your sin as God sees it.
  • Sorrow for your sin.
  • Confession of sin.
  • Brokenness over your sin.
  • Hatred for sin.
  • Turning from sin.
  • Mortify your sin.
  1. Look to Christ.
  2. Worship Christ.
