Today I interview Jonathan Holmes about his new book The Company We Keep In Search of Biblical Friendship (Cruciform Press, 2014). Listen as we talk about his life, ministry, and upcoming writing projects, why so little is written on biblical friendship, and what ministry leaders can do to promote a biblical view of friendship in their ministries. We also discuss the marks and purpose of biblical friendship, how to pursue a friendship with pastors and confrontation, and dealing with hurt in friendship.

About the Book:

51X-3U6CH2L._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_Friendship. It’s one of the simplest of human relationships in comparison to marriage or family, and yet it’s also one of the least understood and practiced. Could it be our understanding of friendship has been more informed by pop culture and social media, and less informed by the vision of friendship offered by Scripture?

Is it possible friendship exists for a greater purpose than my enjoyment and comfort? Is friendship more than just having some people to hang out with on a weekend, participating in a book club, or hitting the golf course together?

Friendship finds its origin, purpose, and power in Jesus. Our human friendships then must be shaped by this life-changing truth. Dig into this book, and find how your friendships can embody this amazing and wonderful truth.
